New Tours in 2023
I'm very happy to let my customers know that I have put together two new curated tours in India for 2023.
The first is the Classic Rajasthan tour from 21st January to 4th February. When most people think of India images of palaces, Maharajas, vibrant turbans and sarees, camels & elephants spring to mind. In fact, the image most people have is personified in the state of Rajasthan, justifiably India’s most flamboyant state. The joy of this trip to Rajasthan is not only does it reward you with more than a glimpse of this stereotypical view, but it also takes you off-the beaten track to the smaller villages and towns and deep into the rural communities. Of course, no journey to Northern India would be complete without a visit to the Taj Mahal, but even here we will take you on a ‘secret’ tour, revealing a side to the monument not viewed by many. This journey through northern India will have something for everyone, a mix of history, cultural exploration, textiles, wildlife and a few hidden surprises along the way!
The second is the Textile and Heritage tour of Gujarat that runs from the 18th February to 1st March. This tour will mainly concentrate on the handicrafts of the region. We will be meeting artisans, often in their homes, to gain a more in-depth knowledge of the textiles, especially weaving, embroidery, ikat, bandhani and block printing, the trip will also cover other aspects of Gujarati & Kutch culture, the stunning architecture, amazing fauna and flora and the delicious & varied cuisine. The trip will offer something for everyone and will, of course, allow for plenty of shopping opportunities. It also includes a one-day Ajrakh hand block printing and natural dying workshop.
Please do take a look at both itineraries on our tour page of the website for full details and prices. I, Rachel Joseph, will be your tour leader and hope to be able to share my knowledge and love of the textiles we encounter. We will have a professional guide to share the local knowledge of the people, and the history of the places we visit. We have been fortunate to be able to put these tours together with the help of my friend and professional tour operator Emma Horne Travel Ltd, who will be providing all the necessary arrangements.
I invite you to join me in sharing an Indian adventure to remember.
